Business incubator in Tetouan
Contributing to the creation of enterprises and promoting self-employment among the youth is a key priority for the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. As part of an effort to develop new approaches to encourage young people to establish their own businesses—and with the goal of positioning the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region as a model for fostering the creation of startups—the Chamber has conceived the launch of a business incubator in the city of Tetouan. The initiative aims to encourage and provide support to individuals with project proposals or business ideas, while also contributing to the development of an environment that fosters self-employment and an entrepreneurial spirit.
This project focuses on several key areas: assisting with project structuring, evaluating business creation ideas, providing workspace and logistical support to project founders, facilitating teamwork and training for incubatees, monitoring project progress, raising awareness about entrepreneurship, offering personalized support (coaching), fostering engagement and networking, conducting feasibility studies, and providing assistance in securing funding.
However, the most distinctive feature of this project is that it offers beneficiaries the opportunity to obtain sponsorship from a Moroccan or foreign company.
A center for reception, support, and assistance (providing information, training, monitoring, evaluation, etc.), featuring fully equipped, ready-to-use offices, alongside comprehensive, personalized guidance from professionals and experts in the creation, development, and establishment of businesses. The target sectors are those with high added value that align with market demands—including information and communication technologies (ICT), renewable energy, service-sector professions, and more.
The business incubator is located in the industrial zone of Tetouan, near the nursery (al-mashtal) on the Martil road.
The facility includes a 220-square-meter service center—comprising two training rooms, three administrative offices, and a reception area—as well as a 480-square-meter open-plan space housing 20 fully equipped offices. This space can accommodate 20 project initiators for a period of up to 18 months.
The local municipality and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services have assigned four staff members to support the project.
The project relies on the support of various public and private institutions in the region (local authorities, Abdelmalek Essaadi University, the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills, the Office for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, the private sector, etc.).
A project steering committee, a project management committee, and working groups must be established, and a project manager must be appointed.
A general account must be set up to run the project, and partners must be sought who will contribute to the funding..
